Ration card is also an important document in our country. Almost everyone in our country has this document for sure. Ration cards are of 4 categories, which are issued by the state government under the public distribution system.
Types of ration cards in Delhi
BPL Card – is issued to the natives with an annual income of less than Rs 10,000. The essential items provided to the cardholder on the basis of this ration card come at a highly subsidized price.
APL Card – is issued to the native people with an annual income above Rs 10,000. This type of ratio does not make card holders eligible for any subsidy.
AAY Card – The poorest people are issued, and the subsidy and scheme that will be available on this ration card is different.
AY Card– is issued to natives aged 65 years. AY cards are typically issued to people whose conditions meet certain pre-determined conditions.
Online process of add new names to the ration card in Delhi
First you need to login to the ration card website of Delhi state : nfs.delhigovt.nic.in/. If you do not have login credentials, you need to sign up first.
You will get the option to add family names to the website. You have to fill it with correct details as incorrect details can lead to rejection of your application.
To add an additional name to the ration card, you need a birth certificate or residential proof along with a wedding card.
A list of documents is available in the website. You can check from there, and upload accordingly.
After submitting the application you will get the reference number generated by the system. The number can be used later to check the status of your application.
Within 1 month you will get a new ration card with the names added to your registered address via post.
Offline process of add new names to the ration card in Delhi
You have to go to the ration food supplier shop in your area. You will get the form to add names from there.
The form should be filled in carefully and the name of the person to be added must be filled in clearly.
All documents must be provided to the office by the head of the family along with the form.
In case of addition of additional name, you can add the birth certificate from the Authority for Residential Proof.
All documents provided in the form will be verified. After verification, your form will be submitted and you will get a reference number.
The number can be used later to check the status of the offline application.
Within 1 month you will get a new ration card with the names added to your registered address via post.

The fee for making a ration card ranges from Rs 3 to Rs 45. All states have different fees. And in some states, additional fee up to Rs 100 is charged for instant ration card.
